Being over weight is apart of my genetics?

I've stretched my hand to help many women reach their fitness goals. While in the process of asking about the individuals goals a statement has arisen more times then any. "I cant lose weight, being over weight is in my genes"

It is sad to believe that women truly think that they were born into a body that is over weight or that they are over weight because of  family history. Being over weight has nothing to do with genes, if that was the case I would not have been able to lose weight and keep it off! I do believe that depending on how you've treated your body it may seem harder to lose the weight for a number of reasons; like a slower metabolism from not eating enough, an eating disorder, medical disorders and mentally how ready you are.

Losing weight and keeping it off takes time! This is why I cringe when I see a new fad diet come on to the market or a pill that claims you will lose weight by taking it daily. This could possibly be why women have lost hope in even trying to lose weight because there are so many misconceptions and false products out there. It is sad to see people prey on women especially when dealing with such an emotional battle!

Genetics are things we have no control over like eye color, skin tone, height, hair texture etc. I'm going to use myself for an example, I was born into a family who loved savory comfort foods. Drinking water was not apart of our life and exercise was not really thought of, in a nutshell we really didn't have any healthy habits. I gained weight and still battle an issue with food to this day! However, its all mental, I made a decision to start eating better. It didn't happen over night! How could years of an unhealthy habit vanish in one night? I started making simple swaps here and there, whole wheat bread vs. white bread, 100% juice vs. soda. I added fruits and vegetables into my diet and day by day my eating got better and I started feeling different. I began exercising 5 times a week, some days were harder than others, some days were fun, and some days it felt like nothing was happening, but I did not give up!!  I did not have a perfect healthy diet, but it was perfect for me because it was better than what I had eaten in the past. I continued to make swaps, I continued to exercise and a year later I had lost 80 pounds!!

The weight loss battle begins with the individuals mind, before you think about losing weight you have to be ready for the change that comes with it. I believe most women go into a battle unprepared and get defeated. You are not going to eat whatever you want and think the weight will come off. Most importantly, starving yourself is out of the question!! I can't tell you how long it will take to lose the weight, but I can tell you its possible if you just believe.

I host challenge groups to help you reach your weightloss goals, I will help educate you and give you a plan to be able to lose weight and keep it off!! Please don't start on a weightloss journey alone, send me an email so I can help you!!

Why drink green tea?

If your wondering what all the uproar is about green tea then look no further I've got some good information that you will love!! Since I'm a health nerd now I started researching foods that help burn fat and guess what I found? Yup! green tea helps us shed some pounds. Yay!!!

Okay to the point, I've always enjoyed tea during Fall and Winter. Something about cute warm socks, a good book and a cup of hot tea makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, okay off topic! There's a point here I promise.

Usually I would drown my tea in sugar or honey lol, me and my sweet tooth! Since I'm living a healthier lifestyle I want to enjoy the benefits of it, I won't bore you with all the details of why green tea is good for you like: it helps regulate glucose levels, helps with heart disease, kills cancer, cholesterol, helps with skin care, tooth decay..lol okay that's enough I had to sneak in some healthy facts, bare with me! But what you might get excited about is WEIGHT-LOSS!!! I know I did. So grab a cute mug, some cute comfy socks and your favorite green tea!! I'm using Bigelow but Lipton is good too. But, remember no sugar added and none needed! A little bit of honey is fine if you must I like mine plain jane..lol!! Don't forget to add green tea to your grocery list and Enjoy!!

About Me

Hi my name is Niki and I love food! There I said it, lol!

During all of my pregnancies the cravings I had were unreal, not your average pickle kind of girl. Oh no! I wanted spoonful's of Betty Crocker cream cheese frosting and a whole pie to myself. Yes, it's very hard to admit, but hey it's true!

After gaining more weight than I should, feelings of insecurity hit me, I wanted to eat good so I could feel good! Well since I love food especially sweets (I get bored of eating celery sticks while wishing it was a pie a la mode) It's hard not to crave sweets or comfort foods.

The beginning of my weight-loss journey, I did attempt at some fad diets but I just couldn't stick to them. So I thought to myself...how about I find healthier ways of eating the foods I already enjoy? So I started researching what's "good" food and what's "bad" food etc. I also incorporated fitness into my routine and started feeling extremely confident!

That was five years ago, which brings me to today. I had my third (and last, lol)  beautiful baby boy eight weeks ago! In the beginning of my pregnancy I was doing great, I continued to eat good and worked out, but around the 7th month I gave up..lol. I no longer was interested in working out and I began to crave gummy bears, doughnuts, and tortas with extra hot salsa!! I broke the scale(painful truth, kind of) after giving birth, I began to feel insecure again.

However, this time I knew I could do it!! Once again I started eating healthy, after I was approved I ran to workout!! This time was different though, I didn't want to get in shape and eat healthy for myself something inside wanted to scream it to the world and tell all my fellow ladies there is hope (confidence, sexiness, whatever you need to feel good) at the end of the tunnel. I decided to become a Beach Body Coach to help women learn the benefits of getting into shape and eating yummy healthy foods. I'm a nutrition nerd, I still love food though. But seriously tell me your cravings and I can show you how to eat it and not feel bad!! Pies, Pizza, Pasta you name it I have a healthy alternative to so many yummy dishes!! Every recipe you find in here is guilt free, yay!!!

I have always had a passion to help women and I want to share with all of you a way to be able to make healthy eating taste good and working out fun!! If you don't struggle with weight-loss (I hate you, kidding seriously kidding) Still please come join us!! I would love to be your Coach and help you start living a healthier lifestyle!!

Love always
